Where is the world economy heading?

Failure of IndyMac Bank, the following collateral damage to Freddie Mac (Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation) and Fannie Mae (Federal National Mortgage Association), the weakening US dollar, Wall Street’s straight fall, global stocks continues south, weakening sentiments and confidence of investors and consumers around the world.

I guess that kind of sums up the major economy climate across the world for the past week. I have not seen such huge economic corrections of such magnitude that has brought the whole world into a cloud of poor sentiments and uncertainty. I’d say that the current economy crisis is unprecedented in recent years.

Global Inflation Crisis Coverage

Unless you have been living in a cave and feeding off wild grass and animals, you might have been hearing more of these two words recently - Oil and Inflation.

What we have been witnessing (or in fact experiencing) for the past few months, since the start of October 2007 to now, June 2008, is this decade’s worst inflation. In US, consumer price index has been rising on an average of 4% (month-on-month basis). What is more worrying is that the current situation is not inflation due to economic growth, but a myriad of factors involving a combination of several conditions which has led to today’s crisis.

A New Future for America?

With Obama’s latest majority win in Iowa, it appears that Hilary Clinton is running out of cards. Chances are, and in fact to the point of truth, that Obama Barack is up to run for presidential elections for the Democrats.

Change is the only constant. However, is America ready for the kind of change Obama has been advocating throughout his campaign? Questions are “Why, What, How?” Change on the societal level, cultural level, economic level? Do we see a new meaning to American Dream on the horizon?
